The reason Oprah and Jay-Z kicked it in Brooklyn 12:00PM ET August 11, 2009 Contributor : Nadine Graham A Rocky Williform Company
Miss Oprah Winfrey is known worldwide for making nothing into something. She came from a very poor and abusive background, shook it all off and grew into the multi-talented, uber-famous billionaire we know today. She's the one go-to daytime host that Middle America loves and respects.
But in the hip hop community, she's been known to denounce rap music, rap artists, and the hip hop culture in general; however, this past weekend, Twitter flooded with the rumor that Jay-Z had been spotted in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn with Ms. Winfrey and cameras in tow. The rumor was eventually confirmed. The two were indeed chuckling it up in Jay-Z's former stomping grounds: Marcy Projects.
Pictures surfaced of the two sitting on a Brooklyn stoop, laughing and talking with a crowd of spectators surrounding them. Winfrey later called her famous best friend, Gayle King, while she did her satellite radio show, and spoke about the field trip: "Oh, Jay-Z, my new best friend..."
Winfrey disclosed that Jay was the subject of a two-hour interview she planned on publishing in an upcoming issue of O. "It was really a conversation," Oprah noted, "and at the end of the day, you feel like you get to know someone. I feel like I met a new friend. It was really great."
